TABLE OF CONTENTS
This article explains the content hierarchy in Collegial and how each level connects to the learner experience. Understanding this structure helps you plan and organize learning material effectively.
Content Types
Under “Content”, creators can add and manage different types of learning items. The most common type is the Course, either created within Collegial or imported from partner platforms. Administrators may also use legacy formats such as E-learnings for specific needs.
Courses
Courses are the primary building block for structured learning in Collegial.
Built using Collegial’s authoring tool
Consist of modules and pages (like slides)
Track learner progress on each page: Not Started, In Progress, or Completed
Use Courses to:
Build structured, trackable learning experiences
Create original training material using Collegial’s authoring tool
Monitor learner progress at the module and page level
Imported Courses (Partner content)
Imported courses come from external content partners such as Coursera and Pluralsight. You can import these courses if your organization has access to their catalogs.
Supported content partners include:
Coursera
Finanskompetens
LinkedIn Learning
Learnifier
Imparta
Pluralsight
Imported courses are labeled as Course under the “Learning Type” column.
Use Imported Courses to:
Offer high-quality learning material from trusted external providers
Extend your organization’s catalog with diverse, ready-made courses
Integrate external learning content into Learning Journeys
Learning Journeys
Learning Journeys bring multiple learning items together into a structured experience with clear progress tracking. They are the preferred format for building programs or multi-step learning initiatives .
Contain learning items such as courses, live events and assessments
Some item types (such as live events and assessments) can only be created inside a Journey
Show overall progress based on completion criteria
Use Learning Journeys to:
Design and manage structured learning programs that guide learners through a defined sequence
Combine multiple learning formats (live events, courses, assessments, and more) into one pathway
Track and measure learner progress across multiple learning activities
Collections
Collections group related learning items into one place without requiring learners to complete them in a specific order. They work like flexible libraries for browsing content.
Can include all types of learning items (except Journeys)
Do not track completion or progress
Count and display the number of items in the collection
Use Collections to:
Organize content for open exploration rather than structured learning
Group related learning items into flexible, non-tracked sets
Provide easy access to optional or reference materials
